Vos missions
The UM6P Corelab is hiring a scientist for the Biosciences CoreLab. The UM6P CoreLab is a research-support entity aiming to facilitate access to a wide range of cutting-edge technologies, expertise, and services offered to UM6P researchers and collaborators at the national and continental levels.
Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and independent Scientist in Population Genomics to contribute to various genomic development projects and large-scale population genomics initiatives. The successful candidate will play a central role in the design, analysis, and interpretation of population-scale genomic datasets. This position is ideal for a scientist passionate about leveraging whole-genome sequencing (WGS), multi-omics integration, and advanced bioinformatic tools.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Population Genomics Research
- Lead analysis of large datasets for innovative findings in population genomics.
- Perform population structure analysis, ancestry inference, admixture analysis, and genetic diversity assessments.
- Contribute to the development of the national genomic reference datasets.
Bioinformatics & Data Integration
- Develop and optimize pipelines for variant calling, annotation, QC, and downstream analyses.
- Integrate genomic data with phenotypic datasets.
- Apply statistical genetics methods.
Capacity Building & Infrastructure Development
- Contribute to building a sustainable genomic analysis infrastructure.
- Mentor junior scientists, students, and technical staff.
- Participate in grant writing, manuscript preparation, and international collaborations.
- Support ethical, legal, and social frameworks for genomic research and data sovereignty.
Profil recherché
Required Qualifications
- PhD in Genomics, Human Genetics, Population Genetics, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or related field.
- Minimum two years experience in the field of population genomics.
- Demonstrated experience analyzing large-scale genomic datasets (WGS, experience in WES analysis and interpretation is desirable).
- Strong expertise in statistical and population genomics methodologies.
- Proficiency in bioinformatic analysis.
- Experience with genomic tools.
- Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
- Scientific rigor and analytical thinking
- Ability to manage large, complex datasets
- Interdisciplinary collaboration (clinicians, statisticians, bioinformaticians)
- Commitment to ethical genomic research and data governance
- Familiarity with national genomic initiatives or large biobank-scale projects.
- Experience with high-performance computing (HPC) environments.
- Grant writing experience and ability to secure research funding.
